Independent Files for House District 4
Last Tuesday Matthew R. Jones of Tahlequah officially filed as an independent candidate for State Representative of District 4.
Mr. Jones, 24, has lived in Tahlequah since 2001 and is currently a part-time employee of the Northeastern State University Library as well as a self-employed network security consultant. He also holds an Oklahoma Teaching License in business education, history, government, and economics. He was formerly a teacher at Meridian Technology Center in Stillwater before leaving to pursue a MBA degree.
After graduating high school in Stillwater, Mr. Jones finished the Computer Repair and Networking program offered by Meridian Technology Center. He then attended Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa and taught open enrollment night courses for Meridian. Through an articulation agreement between Oklahoma technology centers and junior colleges, he received an Associates of Applied Science in Information Technology with emphasis on Network Engineering. In 2004 he graduated from NSU with a Bachelors of Business Administration in Telecommunications Management.
Mr. Jones believes there are many issues effecting Oklahoma and District 4 that he can help tackle. Education, business, taxes, and the environment are only some of the issues that he is passionate and eager to help solve. He also wishes to use his background in information technology to bring about legislation protecting Oklahomans from new threats created by online transactions and other digital threats.
