About Matthew R. Jones
Matthew Jones is an active resident of Tahlequah. Originally a graduate of Stillwater High School, he attended Meridian Technology Center and Northern Oklahoma College before graduating from Northeastern State University. He holds several IT industry cerfitications, an AAS in IT from NOC, and a BBA in Telecommunications from NSU.
With a heavy background in the Information Technology field, Mr. Jones has worked in various capacities of network administration ranging from customer help desk to sole network administrator to classroom instructor for a Cisco Cerfified Network Associate program. In 2004, Mr. Jones took a position with Meridian Technology Center as a full-time instructor. With an Oklahoma State Teaching Certificate in Business Education, his students included high school juniors and seniors along with adults. Since returning to Tahlequah, Mr. Jones has focused on private networking consulting with an emphasis in network security.
Mr. Jones has had a broad background in helping with community events. In Stillwater, he was quite active with youth football. From the age of 11 he coached with his brothers and have had many city and state playoff teams including 2 state and 1 city championships. Following his father's lead, community service has been very important to him. He has helped deliver and serve meals for the community Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners in Stillwater. In Tahlequah he has been helpful with fundraising and publicity for the Tahlequah Community Playhouse.
Mr. Jones seeks the position of State Representative for District 4 as a way to aid the community as a whole. The position will allow him to fight for the people of the district and to serve as a public trustee to ensure the government of this state works to help all Oklahomans and does so fairly and responsibly. Mr. Jones has a great passion for serving others and strongly believes in fighting for what is right. He believes strongly in democracy and that people, not politicians or political parties, own and control our cities, our state, and our nation.
